why use units with your numbers? [plz can anyone answer and explain. I would HIGHLY apprecaite it :)]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if i say the distance between two objects is 5.2 , this dosent really tell you anything at all because i haven't specified units

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i could mean \(5.2 [\text{Å}]\), \(5.2 [\text{mm}]\), \(5.2 [\text{in}]\), \(5.2 [\text{km}]\), \(5.2 [\text{ly}]\), all of which are very different distances

OpenStudy (shane_b):

In addition to what @UnkleRhaukus said, units can often show you if your calculations make sense. For example:\[Force=mass*acceleration\]Using SI units, acceleration is in units of m/s^2 and mass is in units of kg. If you do a long calculation and wind up with units of kgm/s^3 then you know you made a mistake somewhere along the way because the units don't match what they should be (kgm/s^2).

right i understand. Thankyoy so much unclerhaus and shane b
