OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

what is arcsin \(\theta\) and sinh \(\theta\) ?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

@mukushla

mathslover (mathslover):

arc sin theta means :i think it means inverse of sin. However, if you have 1/2=arcsin(theta), where theta is an unknown angle, then the question means "Where is the sin of the angle equal to one half".

mathslover (mathslover):

theta = arc sin (y/r) http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110529092711AAPJV14

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

but what is sinh...........

Parth (parthkohli):

\(\arcsin\) is the inverse function of \(\sin\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sine hyperbolic

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\sin 90 = 1 \implies \arcsin 1 = 90 \]

Parth (parthkohli):

And yeah, what Omni said.

mathslover (mathslover):

sin h (z) =gives the hyperbolic sine of z.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Sorry i don't about hyperbolic sine.........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh noooo parth. it must be in radians

mathslover (mathslover):

http://reference.wolfram.com/mathematica/ref/Sinh.html

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\sin{\pi \over 2}=90\implies \arcsin{90} = {\pi \over 2} \]Better?

Parth (parthkohli):

sin pi/2 = 1*

Parth (parthkohli):

arcsin 1 = pi/2*

Parth (parthkohli):

I messed the whole thing, lol.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

but any example of sin h

Parth (parthkohli):

I'm sure that Omni will be able to give an example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the function sinhx is defined by: \[sinhx = \frac{1}{2} \left(e^{x}-e^{-x}\right) \]

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Ok............ Thats what I wanted.but why is it called hyperbolic may bet as it has a hyperbolic graph ........ ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the graph is here: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=sinhx i cant remember much about it; it has been a while; sorry.

Parth (parthkohli):

Semicolon again? lol.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

habit and lazy way to type lol
