If we see a supernova of a star that is 25 light years away from us, we know it exploded 25 years ago. True False

What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

false?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, True. Because, 25 light years away= the distance light travels in 25 years. So, the moment that star exploded, light carrying that info started travelling from that star to us here. But it takes 25 years to get here. So, if we see a supernova of a star that is 25 light years away from us, we know it exploded 25 years ago.
