6(a-b)-5(2a+4b)
6a-6b-10a-20b=0 -4a-26b=0
But isn't 6a-(-10a) ? which is 16a
no
are you trying to simplify the equation?
yes
ok
let me write it down and figure it out
alright thanks
6(a-b)-5(2a+4b) distribute (6xa)-(6xb) (-5x2a)+(-5x4b) you will get 6a-6b-10a-20b add or subtract like terms 6a-10a=-4a 6b-20b=-14b the simplified equation is: -4a-14b
Thank You but if it was 6a+6b-10a-20 then what sign would i get for 6a and 10 a the + or the - thats where i get confused
basically you are just moving the ten over to a different spot. the negative sign before the ten goes with it, along with the a. same thing for the twenty. you make a separate equation with like terms but you bring the negative sign or subtraction sign over with it
Thanks
your welcome
\[6(a-b)-5(2a+4b)\]\[=6a-6b-10a-20b\]\[=-4a-26b \Large{\color{red}{\checkmark}}\]
