Last night, Lucy and Neil met Morey in Gramercy Park. ---The object of the verb is A. Morey. B. Lucy and Neil. C. Gramercy Park. D. night.

B. Ask yourself, "Who, or what, met Morey?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The subject is the person/thing "doing" the verb. The verb is the "action" word. The object is the object/person that the verb is being done to. Therefore, "Lucy" and "Neil" are the subjects because they are meeting someone. "Met" is the action being done - the verb. And "Morey" is the object/person that is being met by Lucy and Neil, so it is the object of the verb. "In Gramercy Park" would be a prepositional phrase. Make sense?
