What is the remainder when (2x^3–8x^2+6x–36) ÷ (x–4) ?
Do synthetic division.
\[ f(x)=2x^3–8x^2+6x–36 \] Compute f(4) and this will give you the remainder.
D: Omg. I never knew that shortcut.
Yes if f(a) =0 then f(x) is divisible by x-a
f(4)=-12
it'scalled the remainder theorem @TheMusician
D:...My teacher always made me do it using division....:'[ It was hard lol.
Wow, that's easier than expected. Thanks, I'll be using that in the future.

yeah high school teachers tend to be sadistic and force students to do long divisions >:))) i know i do mwahahah
So cruel...Lol.
i had a rough childhood...
Unfortunately, some high school teachers do not want their students to use any other methods that maybe they do not know.
ironically..in high school, teachers force you to use certain formulas only but students want to do other formulas, which are easier..in college students are free to use whichever formula they want but they stick to what the teachers "advise" them to use =))
