Solve this problem. (Place your answer in the same order as the ratio.) The ratio of the measure of two supplementary angles is 3:7. Find the measure of each angle. ____°,_____°

OpenStudy (anonymous):

supplementary means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Supplementary angles are angles whose sum is 180 degrees. Let the first angle be 3x and the second angle be 7x. 3x+7x = 180, x= 18. The ratio of the measure of two supplementary angles is 3:7. Find the measure of each angle. 54°,128°

kartik, nice job...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry the second angle is 126* not 128* . Typing mistake.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Supplementary means 180 degrees and Complementary means 90 degrees.. So you are given with ratios so take the advantage of that: Let the one angle by 3x and other be 7x: So their sum must be supplementary or we can say 180: \[3x + 7x = 180\] \[\implies 10x = 180\] Find x by dividing 10 both the sides.. Then find the two angles by \(3x\) and \(7x\)..
