HELP! Factor x^2-6x-16 ?
hint: \[x^2 - 6x - 16\] \[\implies x^2 - 8x + 2x - 16\] does that help?
Hint: Break the middle term such as u get the product of them as 16x^2 & sum as -6x
What two numbers when you multiply them you get -16 When you add these numbers you get -6
yes!
look @lgbasallote reply
In @Igbasallote Do I Add Or Subtract 8x & 2x ?
you factor out
if you combine them you'll just get back to the original question
it depends on the question if u can gt it through subtraction then u should do subtraction otherwise add
Im Sorry But How Do You Factor Out?
I Got x^2-7x-16 ?
okay... 1) you shouldnt combine...like i said... 2) you should get x^2 - 6x - 16..the same as the problem
@Igbasallote Oh Ok Umm What Do I Do After That?.
factor out
\[(x^2 - 8x) + (2x - 16)\]
How Do I Do That?.
factor out the common factor in each parenthesis
for example... the common factor for x^2 + 5x is x(x+5) and the common factor for 3x - 9 is 3(x-3) does that help?
anyway...i gotta log off now so i hope someone can continue this...
Awwe Ok Thanks For Your Help
