can someone Describe the role of plants in the water and carbon cycles.
Role In Carbon cycle: Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis. They're a huge part in keeping our air as clean as it can possibly be with recent pollution Role in Water cycle: PLants absorb the water from the soil (through their roots) and then release it back into the atmosphere by transpiration (evaporation from the leaves). You should know what happens after that...The water in the atmosphere condenses to form clouds, then rain falls, returning the water to the soil, and the cycle goes on... plants absorb ground water through their roots. then, the water evaporates through transpiration and goes to the atmosphere which then rises, cools down, and become clouds. this is called condensation. then the water vapour cools down and cloud moisture is realeased as precipitaion ( eg- rain, snow, hail etc).
hope it will help :)
The living component of the carbon cycle involves carbon fixation by plants -- respiration by all organisms -- decomposition by decomposers, such as fungi, bacteria and algae. The carbon dioxide released during respiration and decomposition is refixed by plants. Certain minerals are closely related to this cycle, such as the carbonate in corals and cytoskeletons of other animals. Calcium carbonate is in equilibrium with the solution surrounding it, but once the carbonate is formed, it cycles slowly relative to the carbon dioxide released by decomposers and respiration. So what is the role of water? Water is the solvent of life. Water is basically involved in all the reactions of life. Water is also directly involved in many reactions of life. For example, water supplies the electrons for photosynthetic electron transport. During respiration, the products of sugar utilization (oxidation) are CO2 and water. And on and on. Water is intimately linked to the carbon cycle
