Is the inequality sometimes, always, or never true? -2(2x+9)>-4x+9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first multiply out on the left to get rid of the parentheses using the distributive property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get \(-4x-18>-4x+9\) now you can add \(4x\) to both sides, which means all the \(x\)'s are gone, and you get \(-18>9\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you ask yourself "is minus eighteen greater than nine??"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i didn't think so either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aha. So its never true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never, not even once !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! :)
