Mathematics 4 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Among all pairs of numbers whose difference is 4 find a pair whose product is as small as possible. What is the minimum product

OpenStudy (ghazi):

0 and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can it be zero?

OpenStudy (ghazi):

it's product is zero ..i think the smallest one...or else it can tend to infinity in negative..if taken in minus

hartnn (hartnn):

no it won't go to -infi...coz both nos will be negative to give product positive....

OpenStudy (ghazi):

hmm...right

hartnn (hartnn):

the min product is -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn smart! (Y)

hartnn (hartnn):

its all mathematics :)

hartnn (hartnn):

let one number be x,other will be x+4...to miminize the product means to differentiate x*(x+4) and equate it to 0....so 2x+4=0...so x=-2....so other no.=2....so product=-4..
