What would be 2 perpendicula lines to x=2?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Any line y = k, where k is any number, is perpendicular to x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=k? Sorry i'm not sure how i'm not understanding this..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

replace k with any number you want

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ex: k = 4 ----> y = 4 is perpendicular to x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So basically if I put y=(any number) it's perpendicular to x=2?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

exactly, you can use equations like y = 3 or y = 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or whatever you want

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! it's a lot easier than I thought.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it was parallel would it be x=k?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes exactly, x = k is parallel to x = 2 ex: x = 3 is parallel to x = 2 x = 4 is parallel to x = 2 etc etc
