Simplify one question! help please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{18}+\sqrt{8}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{18}=\sqrt{9*2}\] \[\sqrt{8}=\sqrt{4*2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou :) is that all I have to do though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no..., you need to simplify those then add them together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they cant be simplified any more though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{9*2} = \sqrt{9}*\sqrt{2}\] \[\sqrt{9}=3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay. so for the other one it would be sqrt 4*2= sqrt 4* sqrt 2, sqrt 4 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2*2=4...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be 2 or 4? sorry im confused

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

\[\sqrt{18}=3\sqrt{2}\] \[\sqrt{8}=2\sqrt{2}\] so\[3\sqrt{2}+2\sqrt{2}=5\sqrt{2}\]
