Describe the graph of y=6. I chose a., is it correct? a. A line passing through the pole and through the point (6, 0°) b. A line perpendicular to the polar axis passing through the point (6, 0°) c. A circle of radius 6 with center at the point (6, 0°) d. A circle of radius 6 with center at the pole

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's been a loooooong summer. I forgot the term "pole"

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oops did not read the entire thing....what do they mean by y=6 is it a polar equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I don't think so

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

then its a horizontal line going through point (0,6) i believe the polar axis is the x-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh o.k. So a.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

no it doesn't pass through the pole (origin)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then b. "perpendicular"

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

this isn't making sense...i think its a polar equation --> r = 6 then its a circle with radius 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ... i think there is an error

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/ Oh... So now we're looking at c.. d.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

def d) center is at origin or "pole"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks guys :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

throwing that "y=" in there really confused me for a sec :)
