Find the y-intercept of the function shown on this graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The y-intercept is the number that is on the y-axis where the line goes through it. When you are on that center line going up and down, which number is there when the line crosses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Definitely not the one. We are looking only at the y-axis. It goes up and down. Also, the numbers are written to the side of where the actual point (coordinate) is supposed to be. The line goes through the y-axis on its negative side. Try again, but look at where the thin line actually crosses the thick line and then look to the side to see which number is close (and it is negative).

sorry what do i do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it i think (0, -1.5)?

Your 4 answer was close in a way, but it would have been the negative 4. I can see how you get that by following the line through the number -4, but it is not the number itself the you are to look at. You are looking at the grid and following the little pointer to the side.|dw:1344813453794:dw|
