Help! Find the following vectors, given: a=(3,-4) and b=(1,2) -3b= ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Scalar multiplication with vectors is as follows: For scalar value (like a number) a and vector v = <v1,v2,v3...>, \[a \vec v=<a v_1, av_2, av_3,...>\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm I'm still confused... So what's -3b ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, in this case, -3 is the "a" and b is the "v".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But these are the possible choices: (-3,-6) (0, -7) (-2, -1) (-9, 16)

hartnn (hartnn):

b=(1,2) -3b=((-3)*1,(-3)*2)

Thanks :)
