The domain of the following relation: R: {(3, −2), (1, 2), (−1, −4), (−1, 2)} is {−1, 1, 3} {−1, −1, 1, 3} {−4, −2, 2, 2} {−4, −2, 2}

hero (hero):

Hint: The domain includes all of the x values of each given point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont get it ?

hero (hero):

You were given the points (3,-2), (1,2), (-1,-4) and (-1,2). If each of those are points, what the the x values of each point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure ?

hero (hero):

So if you're given an (x,y) point, the first value represents x and the second value represents y, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the X are3 , 1 , -1 and -1

hero (hero):

And those values do not have to be in that order to represent the domain of x.

hero (hero):

x = {3,1,-1,-1} means the same as x = {3,-1,1,-1} means the same as x = {-1,3,-1, 1} etc.

hero (hero):

So which of the answers above is correct?

hero (hero):

I'll give you a medal if you can tell me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And for the range would it be the same just with Y ?
