Price of the pretzels is $5. People would like 50% more salt, which would cost $2. 10000pretzels were sold previously. How many additional pretzels are to be sold to cover the cost of adding the extra expense of adding salt?
By 'price of the pretzels' do you mean one pretzel?
yeap!!
Hmm... is there anything that you accidentally left out form this question? Like the cost price of a pretzel or something?
basically, I had hint of this question, didn't have the full question with all the figures and this up form that one as I badly need the solution. What do u think needs to be added in this question???
Knowing the cost price would greatly help.
the hint was something like this - given price of the pretzels and then said that people would like 50% more salt, which would cost x amount. Given how much pretzels were sold in the past, you have to calculate how many additional pretzels need to be sold to cover the cost of adding the extra expense of adding salt.
so lets guess the cost price to be $3!! what do u think??
Ok. Thank you for that. I'll see what I can do.
this solution could be a life saving thing for me!!!!
Do you have the question written word for word? Is there more information pertaining to this question? (Like, is it a continuation from a previous question or something?) I don't even know where to start when I don't know the actual cost price of a pretzel. :/ To know the amount you need to recover, you first need to know how much the production costs.
is it possible to guess the numbers determine the answer?
no its not a continuing part of any other question............ I've already given u the hint I had :'(
Is this subjective or objective?
as in... do you come up with your own answers or are the answers provided? (multiple choice)
I have to come up with my own answer including illustration.............definitely subjective!!!!
Oh. :/ That sucks. Okay. I'll try my best. No guarantees though!
ok.............I'll be waiting........and thanks a million :)
@ganeshie8 @Hero
You can't do that to her @monokerous. You should explain it terms of the numbers given.
I deleted my explanation because it didn't seem right.
There's no need to make up numbers. The numbers are already given.
All there is to do is figure how to actually solve it.
Ok. Then I got nothing. Sorry, @Tamtas.
I see a conflict with your statements @Tamtas. The original problem stated: People would like 50% more salt, which would cost $2. Then later on you state that a hint told you: people would like 50% more salt, which would cost x amount. If it costs $2, why would the hint say that it costs x amount? Which is it? $2 or x dollars?
@Hero the hint didnt mention any figures........... I just guessed the figures!!
Original question: Upon conducting a survey of their customers, Crunchy Pretzel Company (CPC) has learned that buyers would prefer CPC pretzels much more if CPC increased the salt content by 50%. Currently, one bag of pretzels is being sold at €1.09 with a €0.11 profit on each bag sold. The additional salt content will increase the production cost by €0.04 per bag. Last quarter, CPC sold 2.4 million bags of pretzels. Assuming the price of the product remains the same, if CPC increases the salt content by 50%, how many additional bags of pretzels will they have to sell to have the same total profit?
