Geometry, please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On a school map, the points (-1, -9), (-1, -1), (7, -9), and (7, -1) represent the four corners of a sand park. What are the coordinates of the center of the sand park?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. (-1, -5) b. (3, -4) c. (3, -5) d. (4, -4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1345069632233:dw| find the midpoint distances, then add them to the bottom left coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@completeidiot Is it c. (3,-5)?

hero (hero):

Did you graph this on graph paper first? If you did, you would be able to figure it out really quickly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have graph paper, but I did it on regular paper (so the lines aren't completely exact) but I can't tell if its B or C

hero (hero):

I would not attempt to do this without graph paper.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure about this, but maybe if you used the formula to find the midpoint of a segment, you'll probably get the center of the sand park. I am thinking the (-1,-1) and (7,-9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or (-1, -9) and (7, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With (-1, -9) and (7, -1) I got (3,-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about the other pairs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@panlac01 for the other pair I got (3,1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure? I am thinking it will be the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh sorry lol, careless mistake, yeah there both (3,5). Thanks! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3, -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry -5, I'm bad at typing quickly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k, that's how you would solve without the use of graphing paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!
