When a lightening falls on ocean , what will happen(time of contact) ?
electric power always search for the easiest and shortest path to reach the other end from one end and to do so especially in case of lightening medium is need to be ionised .....so i think rather than falling on ocean it will certainly prefer some high altitude point (land or mountain) ......so first question is how it is goin to fall on water....and as faras your question is concerned then i guess water at that point will split..but i am not sure!!
i think it will ionize water. we hear the loud grumble because of ionization of air. i think it will ionize water too.. me too not sure.
what iis sharp metal plate is present in ocean??
lightning strikes do occur in oceans https://www.google.co.in/search?q=lightning+in+oceans&ie=utf-8
Of course they do. If there's nothing else around for it to strike it has no where else to go. Once it strikes it will ionize & evaporate some portion of the water. Here's some NASA data on this (more evidence that the space program isn't a waste of money): http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2001/ast05dec_1/ And some cool pictures can be seen on google too: https://www.google.co.in/search?q=lightning+in+oceans&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=chsuUMaYNubo6wHd7YGAAg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=918
