How do you write the equation of a line given two points?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

find the slope and apply the point-slope form of the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

there are many different forms of a line equation, so without being specific as to form; any of them can be applied :)

OpenStudy (ghazi):

generally you can use (y-y1)=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)* (x-x1)....if two points are given

OpenStudy (amistre64):

for people who like filling in formulas, this would suffice as well :) \[y=\frac{y_o-y_1}{x_o-x_1}x-\frac{y_o-y_1}{x_o-x_1}x_o+y_0\]

thank you so much
