Which statement describes the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT)? The SALT failed to produce any treaties or agreements between the U.S. and Soviet Union. The Soviet Union left the SALT as a result of American actions in Central America. The SALT of the 1970s ended because of Soviet action in the Middle East. The SALT expanded to include nations from Europe and the Middle East in the 1980s.

Hard to say. There were two rounds of SALT talks, SALT I begun by Nixon, which led to an interim agreement and the ABM treaty, and SALT II, which began immediately thereafter and concluded in 1979 with an agreement signed by Carter. However, that treaty was never ratified by the Senate, in part because by then the Carter presidency had imploded and he had zero influence in Congress, particularly with foreign affairs, and in part because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (which is not in the Middle East). Reagan despised all of Carter's works, and withdrew from SALT II in the 80s, instead beginning the START talks, which resulted in an agreement signed by his successor, George H. W. Bush. So far as I know no nations from Europe were ever involved, as the Brits and French keep their own counsel with respect to nuclear weapons, and of course it would be pointless to include any countries from the Middle East, as not even the Israelis had nukes at that time, I believe. So...that leaves the third choice as the only one that isn't flat wrong, and that one works only if we interpret "Middle East" to include Afghanistan, which is geographically ridiculous. Maybe your instructor needs to take a closer look at a map?
