If my friend had only 128mb RAM in his computer, I would ever tell him to upgrade the RAM or just buy a new computer because no computer these days will take a newer O/S like Vista with only 128 mb RAM. In all respect computers these days don't have room for 128MB RAM so I would say he buys 2 sticks of DDR2 2GB each
If my friend discovered he has 128 MB of RAM installed in two slots on his computer: First, I'd console the poor chap. Because, wow, that's just sad. Then, I'd help him research his motherboard and determine how much memory it can accept, and in what configurations. Then, assuming it can handle 2Gig strips (which is a huge assumption because his PC was obviously made in the dark ages), I'd send him out to buy two 2Gig DDR2 non-ECC DIMM strips (one for each slot). He can get each for $28 plus shipping right now on Amazon. Then, I'd probably buy him a beer and ask him if he needed any career help because if he's only got $75 and some crap-old PC, he has bigger issues than the ram in his PC.
