Two Squares*
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
this seems familiar
OpenStudy (amistre64):
say the sides of a square are: a and b
similar shapes differ at most by a scalar, lets say "n"
the second square has sides: an and bn
area of the first is then: ab
and area of the second is: anbn, or n^2 ab
OpenStudy (amistre64):
too familiar :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4:16 <3
OpenStudy (amistre64):
then we should just write the ratio of the areas as:
4:16 , which can be reduced to 1:4
notice that the ratio of the general setup was: 1:n^2
2n = 4, such that n=2
1:2^2 is the same thing we got with 1:4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So its 1:4 then :)
OpenStudy (amistre64):
yes :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but thats not an option so imma do 4:16 ok?
