5 people = how many cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are about 10^14 human cells in the human body and as many microbes in the gut and on the skin. So each person has about 2*10^14 cells (human+microbes). Multiply that by 5 and there's your answer.

Well, in the tiny (~ 1mm long) nematode worm, Caenorhabditis elegans, we know that there are exactly 959 cells in the adult hermaphrodite and 1031 in the adult male, The estimate for human cells in the human body is about 100 trillion (10^14). So if you do the math, thats 500 trillion.
