Solve 6x^2 = 18x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide both sides by 6, then subtract the 18x so your problem will be set to zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

@nickhouraney if you divide both sides by 6 then you wouldnt really be subtracting "18x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how dare you correct me @lgbasallote

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide both sides by 6, then divide both sides by x

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

careful...you cant just simply divide both sides by x...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soo what do i divide ?? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide both sides by 6, subtract the 3x so your problem is set to zero, then factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youll get two possible answers, test them out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not understanding why you cannot divide both sides by x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are the answers guys: A.)x = 0, x = −3 B.)x = 0, x = 3 C.)x = 6, x = −3 D.)x = 6, x = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0, 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i divided by 6x then 3x and i didnt get any of those :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you didnt do what i said tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 6*3^2 is the same as saying 6*9= 54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18*3 = 54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6*0^2 is the same as 6*0 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18*0 = 0

Thank you guys soo much!
