Graph the solution of y – 2 > 1 on a number line. i know the answer is y > 3 but it that an open or closed circle? i forgot :/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

It's an open circle because you are NOT including the endpoint y = 3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Basically there's a hole at y = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when is open or closed circle used?

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

@panlac01 when it is included then it's closed but when not included its open...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks alex, I am asking cwash :) are you also allowed to use a [ ] or ( )?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you and @panlac01 what do u mean by are you also allowed to use a [ ] or ( )?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's another way instead of an open or close circle. also when graphing, do not forget to put - infinity and + infinity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhhhh ok thank you i'll remeber that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the reason why I asked is because you might be asked to write it in notation as well. and you use either the [ ] and ( ) for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i got asked to write it as a notation and completely blanked out so thank you for more help about that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[[3,\infty)\]
