so the slope of the line is 1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ya
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@mathquest do u have options
OpenStudy (anonymous):
typing error. I meant X=3 and Y=8

8/3

Does it pass through origin
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I mean the line
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no

then the slope is not 8/3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how do I solve it..not sure
OpenStudy (anonymous):
slope= (8-constant)/3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think, slope = (8-y)/(3-x)

AT first, do u know that slope =rise/run
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the 8 is how far it rises on the y axis and the run is how far it goes on the x axis
is this right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
very right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so would I be right to say that the graph rises? for every 3 units of run
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Rises 8

nope....... it depends
OpenStudy (anonymous):
whether is passes through origin or not
OpenStudy (anonymous):
it crosses the y axis at 8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
therefore i think that it decreases right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And does it cross x-axis at 3
