here is a ship which flows in the x direction it has a considerable hole across its hull in the y direction what will the direction of the movement of ship be due to the water that goes in:A tipical answer could be like this: we know that F(ext) =- {V(rel)}dM/dT +{M}dV/dT .....1 .So F(ext) due to water on the ships base is equal to -{V(rel)}dM/dT......2 now as dM/dT is positive and {V(rel)} is negative wrt ship, the force is pos and hence instantaneous direction of motion.but in reality nthat is not the case. Why? note 1 can be proved&2 as the {M}dV/dTis 0.

welll got my answer!!!!!!! the dir of force need not be the dir of inst motion.many ex like a body in a unif circular motion,or any other place, where there is inetially velocity involved!!!!!
