Consider the matrix in my next post. A. Using row operations, and showing your working, show that Det (A) = (b − a)(c − a)(c − b). The matrix A is an example of a Vandermonde matrix. Vandermonde matrices arise in many applications, including polynomial interpolation. Let a = 0.1, b = 0.2, c = 0.3 and evaluate Det (A).

\[A=\left[\begin{matrix}1 & a & a^2\\ 1 & b & b^2 \\ 1 & c & c^2\end{matrix}\right]\]
