2x^(2)-x-3=0 can someone help me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are quadratic equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This has two factors. Here's a hint: \[(2x \pm ?)(x \pm ?)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need step by step im not understanding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is actually the first step :P You need to find two numbers that multiply together to get 3. This is easy since 3 is prime.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with this problem please thats all i ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I'm doing right now. I'm not going to just solve it for you, but if you tell me what it is that you don't get then we can proceed from there.

So @qpHalcy0n is talking about doing trail factors to factor the polynomial on the left hand side of the equal sign You can also use quadratic formula or you can try to factor the polynimial on the left hand side by using factor by grouping. But what @qpHalcy0n has mentioned is a good way too.

myininaya (myininaya):

Which way have you learned?

myininaya (myininaya):

Oops! And also completeing the square. :)
