I need help trying to figure out what to write for an equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is Two times a number plus three equals one half of the number plus 12. What is the number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would start/ make an equation for that?

OpenStudy (valpey):

Start by re-writing the sentence and putting parentheses in the sentence where you feel like they make the most sense like this: Two times a number plus three equals one half of the number plus 12 (Two times a number) plus three equals (one half of the number) plus 12 ((Two times a number) plus three) equals ((one half of the number) plus 12) Then replace the verbs with symbols and the nouns with numbers or variables like this: ((Two times a number) plus three) equals ((one half of the number) plus 12) ((2 times a N) plus 3) equals ((1/2 of the N) plus 12) ((2 * N) + 3) = (((1/2)* N) + 12)...
