A group of college students is volunteering for homes for the community during their spring break. They are putting finishing touches on a house they built. Working alone, Wade can paint a certain room in 7 hours. Rhonda can paint the same room in 5 hours. How long will it take them working together to paint the room? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth if necessary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lgbasallote i think you solved one of these yesterday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please helpp me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that guy had a formula. what math are you in?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i dont think i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

algebra 1 trying to pass it this is like my last section of the chapter and if i pass it i pass algebra and go to geometry so i would appreciate your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh really. well it must've been someone yesterday. i just cant remember the formula

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you gotta remember. for simtran's sake!! she would appreciate *your* help after all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i found the formula http://prepfortests.com/gmat/tutorials/rates/combinedworkformula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so t1 = 7, t2= 5 1/7 + 1/5 = 1/t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Igbasallote lol i would apreciate it.... @Lethal i dont understand formulas

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

aw bummer @Lethal looks like you have to do this without a formula :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how many hours would it be then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its simple. all you have to do is 1/7 + 1/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i honestly dont understand this stufff.........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how has your teacher taught it? didn't she teach the formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

know i have never learned this should i upload a file up for you to see the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, the answer should be 35/15 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is also 7/3

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let me guess @simtran you're from an online school right?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

and btw @Lethal it's not 35/15 ...i just thought you should know...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lgbas is pretty smart from what i've seen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

noo i just took algebra because i failed it second semester so can you please helpp me

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

no he isnt. he just blabbers random stuff and people instantly believe him

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wow well its 35/12 which is 2.92 i accidentally put 35/15 when i got the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks you i have more questions if you could help me that would be great

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha well i should get off this till i do my own homework.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

he'll be glad to help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

..... -_-

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where do you guys livee at?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lgbasallote can help, he knows.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm in Arizona. where it's hot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you guys know this question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know anything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, i do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that x = -4/5 but if you failed algebra you really should understand it because your gonna be usuing it all throughout your high school math years.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried doing it and i somehow ended up with the wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here another one i dont understand
