Is rRNA a protein?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rRNA is RNA :) A protein is made of one or more chains of amino acids called polypeptides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, rRNA is ribosomal RNA, meaning that it is RNA that has taken shape into the large or small subunit of a ribosome. They join together on mRNA (messenger RNA) to form a (mostly) functional ribosome. Ignore the mostly, I have to put it there for my own sake. The ribosome synthesizes proteins with the help of bunches of other things that are not important for this question.

try this one: rRNA is a type of RNA. is RNA a protein? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rRNA is made of nucleic acid not protien (its makes up ribosomes which in turn produce protien), and the segments in of RNA are called ribonucleotides. Keep in mind for ribosomes to function properly they have to work with certain protien complexes.

NO

IT IS THE ONLY ONE WHICH IS NOT THROUGH ALL ANZIYMS
