what is a karyotype?

It is the number and appearance of a person's chromosomes. I can attach a picture for you.

karyotype is used find the find the number of chromosomes. it is also used to find chromosomal abberations(in terms of number and size). basically it is obtained by staining the cellular contants with suitable stains (giemsa satin etc....)
