cross multiplication first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{9}{16}=\frac{x}{192}\] Now, if\[a=b\], then \[ka=kb\] Let's make a=9/16, and b=x/192, and multiply by 192 (which is k in this case): \[\frac{9}{16}192=\frac{x}{192}192=x\] The 192s cancel (as m/m=1 for any m (here it is 192)) so now just divide 192 by 16 and multiply the answer by 9 to get what x is.
