Alex plots 4 points K, L, M, and N. He joins points K and L and points M and N with straight lines as shown. Alex made the following statements about the points. Statement 1: KL and MN intersect on the same plane. Statement 2: KL and MN intersect at point P. Which chart best justifies Alex’s statements? Statement Justification 1 Postulate: If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point. 2 Theorem: If two distinct planes intersect, then they intersect in exactly one line. Statement Justification 1 Postulate: If two distinct points are given, then a unique

Statement Justification 1 Postulate: If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point. 2 Theorem: If two distinct planes intersect, then they intersect in exactly one line. Statement Justification 1 Postulate: If two distinct points are given, then a unique line contains them. 2 Theorem: If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point. Statement Justification 1 Theorem: If two lines intersect, then exactly one plane contains both lines. 2 Postulate: If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point. Statement Justification 1 Postulate: Through any two points, there is exactly one line. 2 Theorem: If two distinct planes intersect, then they intersect in exactly one line.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

It's either b or c because you need the theorem "If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point" to get point P

OpenStudy (hoblos):

@jim_thompson5910 is right.. that's for the second statement .. it's c because you also need the theorem "Theorem: If two lines intersect, then exactly one plane contains both lines" to prove the first statement

Thank you
