FLVS??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes for college classes -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what class is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Algebra and I need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 , any help ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sqrt(y^2) = y since the square root and the square exponent "undo" each other

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You can think of the square root as something that takes the first exponent of '2' and cuts it in half to get 1 So sqrt(y^2) = y^1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so what do you think sqrt(y^4) is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 right ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes, you cut that exponent in half to get 2 So sqrt(y^4) = y^2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

\[\Large \sqrt{y^4} = y^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I knew it ! Thanks :3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

alright, I'm glad you knew it...you're welcome
