Solve –3x^2 – 4x – 4 = 0

make life easier and start with \[3x^2+4x+4=0\]and solve that one

Use quadratic formula in order to solve for x. quadratic formula: x = -b ± sqrt( b^2 - (4ac)) ------------------------------ 2a Just in case yahoo answers posts this formula very weird, here it is: x equals negative b plus or minus square root of b squared minus 4ac and all over 2a. In your case, bring over the four on the right to the left of the equation in order to ma1ke it equal to zero: 3x^2 -4x -4 = 0 Now designate the variables in the following manner: a = 3 b = -4 c = -4 now plug it into the quadratic formula: x = - (-4) ± sqrt ( (-4^2) - 4(3)(-4)) -------------------------------------- 2(3) --> 4 ± sqrt (64) ------------------- 6 --> 4 ± 8 --------- 6 --> x = 2 and x = -2/3

use the quadratic formula, since the solutions are comlex

OpenStudy (anonymous):

above answer is incorrect, unless you meant \(3x^2-4x-4=0\) wish i guess is possible
