Another word problem... Two sides of a triangle have the same length. The third side measures 5 m less than twice the common length. The perimeter of the triangle is 11 m. What are the lengths of the three sides? Two same sides =? different side=?

try forming the perimeter equation

by naming a the same sides and a-5 the third side

You need to set up a few equations with the information you've been given. Let's call the common length x. The perimeter is the length of all the sides added up. We have 2 with length x and one which is 5 less than 2x, or in other words the third side is 2x-5. So in all we have teh equation 2x+2x-5=11. Are you able to continue from here by solving that equation?

yes, I am. Thank You!
