What is the multiplicative inverse of 2 1/2 ?
\[\frac1{2\frac{1}{2}}\]
I'm lost?
what is a multiplicative inverse?
Oh... the reciprocal of a number; if x is a number other than zero, then 1/x is the multiplicative inverse; the product of a number and its multiplicative inverse is 1
im sure the format i used is not proper; but thats all i did was flipped it into a fraction
2 1/2 is also written as: 2 + 1/2 can you rewrite that as what they call an improper fraction?
But I am still lost though. they give the answers 2/3, 2/5, and 2.
and it is one of those choices
this site seems to be shuffling responses about
So would it be 2 + the decimal?
2.5 is the decimal version of it yes; but that doesnt get us into something that looks like a fraction does it
if you had 2 whole pizzas, and they were cut in half, how many pieces of pizza would you have?
no it doesn't :/ 4
4 halves, and when we add in the extra half; how many pieces do we get?
4 1/2
4 halves + 1 half = 5 halves this is written as 5/2 ; now that is something that we can flip
Oh, so it would be 2/5!
correct
I get it now....thank you for the help!
good luck ;)
Thank You
