For a continuous function f(x) we have I f(x)-f(a) I

A graph, y= f(x) breaks when the value of y vanishes|dw:1346450637383:dw|so for range [f(a)-s, f(a)+s] of f(x), the domain is [a,a+d]. This means that for any successive value of x there is always a value of f(x), and that there is no break in the values. Hence for a continuous function the graph, y= f(x) is unbroken.
