I'm trying to use a fragment of a quotation... let me explain: I want to use this verse for my quotation: 1 John 2:16 King James Version (KJV) 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. But I only want to use "For all that is in the world," and "is not of the Father, but is of the world." I'm trying to look through the Purdue OWL to find out if that can answer my question, but could anyone help me figure out how to use just those two fragments in one quotation?

OpenStudy (moonlight10198):

Umm I may be misunderstanding the question you are asking but usually when people combine quotes or only use a few parts of one quote, they just use ...'s in the middle, but if you are looking for something more elaborate/specific as an answer, then sorry :/

I think that's what I need :)

OpenStudy (moonlight10198):

btw great choice of verse :) and you're welcome then.
