Can find the measure of angle R using the sine rule first and then take away angles Q and R from 180, are you able to use the sine rule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know how to do this :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first it would be helpful to know the length of side PR, could you find this using Pythagoras' theorem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would go right to tangent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and a calculator this is actually why tangent was invented

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh of course silly. Use SOHCAHTOA if you know what that is?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

@Traxter is kidding i knw remember the chant SOH-CAH-TOA @courtneycara17 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SOH CAH TOA means that the sine of an angle equals the opposite side divided by the hypotenuse, the cosine of an angle equals the adjecent side divided by the hypotenuse and the tangent of an angle equals the opposite side divided by the adjecent side. Where the opposite, adjecent and hypotenuse are the following sides: |dw:1346166613723:dw| So sinx=opp/hyp cosx=adj/hyp tanx=opp/adj Note that this only works with right angles triangles. Can you see which of the 3 you will use for this triangle? Hint: Label the sides with respect to the angle we're trying to find and see which of the formulae we can use.
