2r- (5-r) = 13+ 2r
2r + (-1)(5-r) = 13+ 2r can you solve it now
r = 18
@Australopithecus I got that, I'm just not sure what do with all these "r's"
Can you write out the expanded version?
or as far as you got
I can show you where to go from where you have gotten to or if you are on the right track
2r(-5+r)=13+2r Is that right?
Then you subtract the 2's from each side correct?
I don't know how you got to where you are to be honest. first thing you should do is expand (-1)(5-r) 2r + (-1)(5-r) = 13+ 2r
do you know how to expand (-1)(5-r)? it is easy just use the rule a(b+c) = a(b) + a(c) where a, b, and c are just any number
also recall that a negative * a negative = a positive a negative * a positive = a negative a positive * a positive = a positive or - * + = - - * - = + + * + = +
Thanks! My dad just helped me out a little too, that's all for my homework, I have to sleep now thanks again!
The answer is 18 right? Before I go to bed.
no problem 2r- (5-r) = 13+ 2r -2r + 2r - (5-r) = 13 + 2r - 2r -(5-r) = 13 -5 + r = 13 5 + r = 13 + 5 r = 18
Thanks! You helped a lot!
(-1)(5-r) = (-1)(5) + (-1)(-r)
just to clarify
