find two consecutive even intergers such that the smaller added to two times the larger gives the sum of 40

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let x be the first integer the next consecutive even integer would be x+2 smaller added to two times the larger would be x + 2(x+2) it says teh sum of that is 40 so... x + 2(x+2) = 40 do you know how to solve for x now?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

let the 1st integer be x the consecutive even integer is x + 2 and you know x + 2(x+2) = 40 solve for x
