4(2a-1)=-10(a-5)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

distribute first... \[\implies8a - 4 = -10a + 50\] does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no can you do it step by step its compicated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8a - 1 = -10a + 50 18a = 51 a = 51/18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sr a look wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8a - 4 = -10a + 50 18a = 46 a = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(2a-1)=-10(a-5) take 4 times the first term in () and then times second term 4(2a)-4(1) 8a-4 now you do the right side of the equal sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got -15 when i multiplied by -10

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

-10 x -5 is +50 -10 - 5 is -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should set it up like this: -10(a-5) -10(a)-(-10)(5) so then what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it = to -10-15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10a+50 you are forgeting about the variable -10 times first term (a) and then -10 times second term(-5) so now you have 8a-4=-10a+50 so now get like terms togeher and whole numbers together example: 2a-5=-8a+25 2a+8a-5+5=8a-8a+25+5 10a=30 then divide by 10 a=30/10 a=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what will you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but a anegative times a negative is a egative and it subtract okay this is what i did 4(2a-1)=-10(a-5) 8a-4=-10a-15 +10a +10a 18a -4=-15 +4 +4 18a=-11 thats up to where i stopped cuz i don,t understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have -15 but -10(-5) is -50 so corredt this and then show me your work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry that +50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the calculator it said -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because in calculator you have to -10(-5) try this or(-10)(-5) both should give you 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what did you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes a=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mmmmmm:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r u good at english

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no just math
