When whales beach themselves they usually die from suffocation because they are unable to support their body weight when out of the water. Which property of water enables them to grow to such massive sizes without any problems of support?

haha.... uuuh which? because at first i thought density then i thought about how the dead sea as so much salt you just float on top so the more salt it might help the support and weight problem of the whales...

More salt dissolved in the water does mean it's easier to float, but that's actually because salt water is denser than fresh water.

Archimedes' Principle states that "Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object." and "Any floating object displaces its own weight of fluid." (via Wikipedia)

I'm not going to go into the math -- all you need to know is that if something is denser than surrounding the fluid, it'll sink, and if it's less dense, it'll float.
