\[\frac{x-1}{(x-3)(3x-5}=\frac{a}{x-3}+\frac{b}{3x-5}\] \(a\) is what you get when you replace \(x\) by 1 in \[\frac{x-1}{3x-5}\] and \(b\) is what you get when you replace \(x\) by \(\frac{5}{3}\) in \[\frac{x-1}{x-3}\]

sorry i meant replace \(x\) by 3, not by 1
