help!..slope problems.

OpenStudy (matt6288):

\[y-7/3=6(x-(-5/3))\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to find the gradient?

OpenStudy (matt6288):

its slope intercept form

OpenStudy (matt6288):

i put y-7/3=6x+30/3..

OpenStudy (matt6288):

then +7/3 to 30/3? final y=6x+36/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct method, slight mistake at end, should be 37/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but otherwise well done :)

OpenStudy (matt6288):

oh ya 37! lol i did it rite? :D yay thx.. can u help me with one more just to make sure im doing it correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (matt6288):

y-3=-5/3(x-(-3))

OpenStudy (matt6288):

y-3=5x+15/3? +3 +3? y=5x+18/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm.. not quite this time, you didnt multiply it out properly. should be y - 3 = (-5/3)x - 15/3

OpenStudy (matt6288):

ohhhhh ok let me fix it. y=5/3x+18/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check your signs, work out -(-3) first to be 3 then multiply it by (-5/3)

OpenStudy (matt6288):

i multiply it? with -5/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-3=-5/3(x-(-3)) y-3 = -5/3(x +3) y-3 = (-5/3)x -(5/3)*3 y-3 = (-5/3)x -5 y= (-5/3)x - 2

OpenStudy (matt6288):

wow i failed so bad..how does -5/3* come from +3? i thought u just make 3 into a 3/1 and then multiple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure i know which bit confuses you

OpenStudy (matt6288):

i g2g thx for helping me out :D
